L’Âme en Relief : A collection coming to life

L’Âme en Relief is a series that marks a turning point in my artistic practice. In this article, I retrace the journey that led to its creation: the need to explore beyond the surface of the canvas, to integrate sculpture into painting in order to materialize the ineffable. I share my creative process, between instinct and reflection, and how each artwork questions the invisible traces that time and emotions leave within us. Now complete and available, this collection is an invitation to dive into a dialogue between matter and introspection.

After months of exploration, research, and creation, L’Âme en Relief is finally complete and available. This series has been a profound artistic and emotional journey, where each canvas took shape through questioning, intuition, and experimentation. It wasn’t just about painting; it was about giving form to something that had to go beyond the surface of the canvas. A need to materialize what would otherwise remain invisible.

The origin of the project: an exploration of depth

From the start, L’Âme en Relief presented itself as a project different from the previous ones. I felt the need to push my practice further, to no longer limit myself to painting alone. The addition of volume proved to be essential: sculpture was grafted onto painting, integrating into the canvases to transcend their flatness and give my works a new dimension.

The idea seemed simple at first: to materialize what cannot be spoken. But the process was much more complex. It was necessary to find the right balance between matter and abstraction, between what should emerge and what should remain buried.

A dialogue between painting and sculpture

The interaction between painting and sculpture was at the heart of the creative process. Acrylic pouring allowed me to create organic, unpredictable backgrounds, where forms almost draw themselves, reflecting the twists and turns of emotion and the layers of identity. On top of this, sculpted elements were integrated into the canvas, seemingly emerging or dissolving into the paint. These reliefs are not just there to add volume, but to express the ineffable, to create anchor points and moments of reflection.

Each piece in this series questions what remains within us: memories, wounds, unspoken things. Some canvases evoke the melancholy that slowly seeps into us, while others speak of what shapes us without our awareness. The addition of volume serves to materialize this invisible presence, this imprint that marks the soul and body.

A work between instinct and mastery

Creating this series required rethinking my way of working. The choice of colors, the composition, the medium—everything had to be considered in relation to the sculpted reliefs. Yet, instinct played a fundamental role. Working with materials, whether fluid paint or sculpture, involves accepting an element of randomness. Nothing is fixed; everything evolves, and one must listen to what the material offers.

This process, sometimes long and demanding, was also a true immersion into my own reflections. Each canvas was a step, a confrontation with my emotions, and an attempt to translate them in a way other than through words.

The Soul in Relief is finally available

Today, this collection is complete and ready for you to discover. It’s a special moment to see these works finished, ready to be observed, interpreted, and explored. This project pushed me to step out of my comfort zone, to explore new techniques, and to deepen my artistic approach.

I hope this series resonates with you, inviting introspection, prompting you to question what, within you, seeks to emerge or hide...

Thank you to those who have followed this project from its early stages, and welcome to those discovering it today!
