L’Âme en Relief : An experimental project on identity

L’Âme en Relief, my new series in progress. This project combines painting and sculpture to explore the quest for identity, with sculpted faces emerging from abstract backgrounds created through acrylic pouring. It’s an artistic experiment close to my heart, and I’m excited to share it with you at every stage of its evolution !

Discovering The Soul in Relief

For some time now, I have been working on a new series titled L’Âme en Relief, an ongoing experimental project that combines two artistic mediums: painting and sculpture. This series marks an important step in my exploration of themes that deeply resonate with me, particularly the quest for identity and how it manifests, is constructed, or is lost through the body and mind.

A fusion of mediums in the search for identity

In this series, I create canvases that incorporate sculpted faces. These faces, still raw and unpainted for now, literally emerge from the surface of the canvas, as if attempting to break free from an abstract and shifting environment. They symbolize the emergence of self, the struggle to define oneself in a world where the boundaries of identity are often blurry, erased, or in constant redefinition.

The backgrounds of these canvases are created using the acrylic pouring technique, a fascinating artistic method that involves pouring paint mixtures onto the canvas surface. Through random and magical pours, the paint creates unique and hypnotic effects, forming cells and unpredictable color accumulations.

What is acrylic pouring?

Acrylic pouring is a technique that allows you to create abstract artworks by letting the paint "live" on the canvas. By using a mix of acrylic paint and a specific medium, you can achieve organic shapes and spectacular effects. By adding a touch of silicone oil, "cells" appear, adding even more depth and movement to the creation. This method, although random, requires great mastery and a keen eye to balance the colors and textures.

In L’Âme en Relief, these fluid and shifting backgrounds embody the instability and complexity of identity. They serve as a symbolic backdrop for the sculpted faces, which struggle to emerge, as if the soul is trying to define itself within a colorful and unpredictable chaos.

An invitation to discover and feel

L’Âme en Relief is an attempt to capture what is intangible: the quest for self. Through these works, I aim to question what it means to "be" in a world in constant motion, where identity is never fixed, but always in transformation. This series, at the crossroads of techniques and emotions, is an invitation to dive into the abstract.

Stay connected to discover the next steps of this project, and above all, thank you for following this artistic journey!
